policies and fee
The work ethics of a psychologist dictate her relationship with her patients. This relationship should be based on respect, confidentiality and the highest degree of professionalism. It is therefore my priority to provide an environment of safety, care, respect, and support, all of which are paramount to an honest and productive exploration of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
privacy & confidentiality
The law protects the privacy and confidentiality of all communications between a patient and a psychologist, but there are a few possible exceptions when information may be released to others without a patient's expressed consent. Before taking action, every effort is made to discuss the issue at hand with a patient and disclosure will be limited to what is absolutely necessary. The laws governing confidentiality can be quite complex and in situations where specific advice is required, formal legal advice may be needed. Exceptions include: Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect. A psychologist is mandated and required by law to report significant suspicion of child abuse or neglect to authorities. Suspected Elder Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation. If there is suspicion of and / or a good faith reason to believe that an incapacitated adult has been subjected to abuse, neglect, or exploitation, or is living in hazardous conditions, the law requires that a report be filed with the appropriate government agency. Posing a threat to self or other. If a psychologist or psychiatrist believes that someone poses a threat to himself or to others, every effort will be made to enlist the patient's cooperation in ensuring his or her safety. However, this should prove difficult or impossible, the treating clinician may be obligated to seek hospitalization, contact relevant authorities, family members, and / or others who can help provide protection. Threat of Serious Bodily Harm to Other / s. If a serious threat of physical violence against a clearly identified or reasonably identifiable victim or victims is communicated, a psychologist or psychiatrist may be required to take protective actions such as notifying the potential victim, contacting the police, or seeking involuntary hospitalization for the patient. Legal proceedings. If patients are involved in certain court or litigation proceedings and inform the court of services they have received from a psychologist or psychiatrist (ie, making their mental health an issue before the court), they may be waiving their right to keep your records confidential.
The basis of billing for privately insured persons and beneficiaries is the fee schedule for psychological psychotherapists and the fee schedule for doctors. According to this, a psychotherapy session based on depth psychology is charged at € 92.50 per 50 min. If possible, before the initial consultation, please inquire with your insurance company or your aid agency whether and to what extent psychotherapeutic services are covered by your insurance contract.
My practice is run as a purely private practice. For those with statutory health insurance, billing through the respective health insurance company in my practice is only possible in exceptional cases. Please clarify the steps required in each individual case with your health insurance company in advance.
Privately insured patients
As you know it as a privately insured patient, you will receive an invoice at the end of the month, which you can submit to your private health insurance company or to the allowance and have it reimbursed. As a rule, the private health insurance companies or the subsidy agencies cover the costs of psychotherapy. The scope of the reimbursable benefits and the application formalities depend on your individual insurance contract. Therefore, it is best to find out about your specific contractual conditions for outpatient psychotherapy in advance from your health insurance company or aid office.
If you decide to pay for the therapy yourself, you do not have to go through any further formalities in order to start the therapy. The sessions for self-payers are calculated according to the official fee schedule for psychotherapists (GOP).
If you have already tried in vain to get a place in therapy with several registered psychotherapists, but it is important for you at the moment to start psychotherapy, you have the option of applying for reimbursement of costs for non-contractual psychotherapy (Section 13 Para 3 SGB V) at your health insurance company. In this case, private practices like mine can also offer statutory insured patients psychotherapy without the insured person having to bear any costs. In order to apply for reimbursement of costs, you must submit a few forms to your health insurance company before treatment can begin. After your health fund has approved this application, you can start therapy in my practice. I would be happy to advise you on the possibilities of reimbursement in your individual case and on the exact procedure in a preliminary discussion. Please note that the fee of the sessions initially has to be paid by you and the health insurance will reimburse you for the costs.
